Characteristics Carrick Bannockburn Pinot Noir

Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Carrick Bannockburn Pinot Noir is a barrel-aged, single-variety Pinot Noir red wine made by the Carrick winery on New Zealand’s South Island.

Carrick Bannockburn was founded in 1994 by Barbara and Steve Green, a winemaking couple who fell in love with the winemaking methods of Bannockburn (Central Otago). Named after the gold mining town that used to lie in the same area, Carrick has managed to get the best out of the area to produce wines with a great reputation around the world.

Carrick Bannockburn Pinot Noir comes from vineyards located around the winery. These are vines cultivated under organic certification and alongside poultry and a community garden. This is respectful agriculture which, along with the great temperature contrasts between day and night, guarantees the premium quality of the Pinot Noir.

When the harvested Carrick Bannockburn Pinot Noir grapes reach the winery, they are cooled to protect their qualities as much as possible. They are then placed in open tanks where they macerate for 5 to 7 days and fermentation begins at a controlled temperature. Finally, the wine matures for 14 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new. When the wine is ready, the best batches are selected and bottled without clarifying or filtering.

Carrick Bannockburn Pinot Noir is an organic red wine with an elegance and minerality underpinned by one of New Zealand’s most prestigious wine areas. A Pinot Noir with Central Otago pedigree.
