Blau is a red wine from
D.O. Montsant produced by
Cellers Can Blau, one of the seven wineries that are part of the Orowines group. Cellers Can Blau was founded in 2003 by the Gil family in
El Molar.
The climate in this area is Mediterranean, but with a somewhat continental influence. The mountains act as a natural barrier against the influence of the sea, which causes a wide temperature variation between day and night. In general, winters are cold and summers are dry and hot.
This wine is a mixture of grapes planted on different types of soils that adjust to each variety. On the one hand, we have the Carignan (50%) planted on clay soils, the Syrah (25%) planted on limestone soils, and the Grenache (25%) planted on slate soils.
The vinification of Blau is carried out in stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature of 25ºC for optimum fermentation. It rests for 4 months in French oak barrels to give the wine more complexity.
Blau is a juicy and intense wine with aromas of red and black fruit.
