Barón de Ley Reserva is a red wine from the D.O La Rioja produced by the Barón de Ley winery. This wine is made using only Tempranillo grapes, the trademark grape variety of the region.
The grapes used to make Barón de Ley Reserva come from the winery´s own vineyards that are located in the town of Mendavía. The cultivation of these vineyards is carried out using traditional methods, and the harvest being carried out manually.
At the winery, the harvested bunches are destemmed. Then, they undergo alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. During this phase, during which a constant temperature of 30ºC is maintained, various pump-overs are carried out and the progress of the wine is monitored daily.
After the various winemaking processes are carried out, Barón de Ley Reserva is aged for 20 months in new American oak barrels. Following this, it ages for another 2 years in the bottle.
The first bottles by Barón de Ley were sold back in 1990. Driven by a group of prestigious winemakers, the winery has managed to establish itself a stellar reputation in the Rioja region.
Barón de Ley Reserva 2016 Outlet is a wine where we can experience the Tempranillo variety in all its splendour. A concentrated and complex red with well-balanced fruit and wood accompanied by a fresh balsamic nuance and soft notes of sweet spices.
Barón de Ley is one of those Rioja wineries whose first wines were born with a true vocation for the future. There has probably never been a winery in the area of La Rioja of the Navarre area that has been as controversial as Barón de Ley, where the modern character of its wines encountered the first renewed tastes. And Barón de Ley, after a few years producing test wines for another winery, was very clear as to what they wanted to be and what they wanted to do: a winery with a châteaux philosophy, with its own vineyards and a limited production, based on the concept of making single-vineyard wines, modern, in the Bordeaux style but with Rioja class.
