Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

In the 90’s Robert Parker (the American wine critic), dubbed him ‘The Bad Boy.’ Nobody knows whether he was bothered by that or not. What he did make clear is that 21 years before Game of Thrones was made, he was already listening to what Tyrion Lanister had to say. “Let them see that their words can cut you and you’ll never be free of the mockery.” If they want to give you a name, take it, make it your own.” He heard this advice but then went further and used it to name one of his wines: Bad Boy.

With that, Jean Luc Thunevin establishes his identity and continues to make garage wines. This title was also coined by Parker (who seems to be good at giving nicknames), and he used it to refer to wines made in the 90s in Bordeaux, specifically in small enclosures and unorthodox rooms, where they used alternative techniques instead of the traditional ones. Jean Luc Thunevin and other producers, like Jacques Thienpont, were the first of these. Nowadays, already well-known in the world of wine, he has produced Bad Boy, confirming his commitment to this type of winemaking that moves away from the strict and traditional methods of the DOC Bordeaux, in southwestern France.

The Bad Boy grapes grow on 40-year-old vines planted in a clay-calcareous soil. Not much else is known about the production of Bad Boy, only that it is aged for 18 months in new barrels. But that’s fine. Good things don't need to be explained. They should just be experienced. Bad boy is one of these things. The best way to see the other side of the DOC Bordeaux.
