Azpilicueta Crianza is a red wine produced by Alcorta in the D.O Rioja.

This winery belongs to the group Domecq Bodegas, which is located in Logroño, in the north of La Rioja.

Azpilicueta Crianza is produced from Tempranillo (85%), Graciano (10%) y Mazuelo (5%). The grapes originate from vines with an average age of 25 years old, located in Fuernmayor.

For production, the must is fermented in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature of 25ºC, followed by a maceration process for 12 days.

Once finished, Azpilicueta Crianza is aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, with an additional 6 months of refinement in bottle.

Azpilicueta Crianza 2019 is a red wine with a very perfumed nose. Red fruit appears accompanied by notes of vanilla and coconut on a background of wood and spices. Smooth and well-balanced on the palate. A velvety and fruity red wine that is very pleasant to drink.
Azpilicueta Crianza 2015 is a balanced, elegant and pleasant red wine. In this vintage, the aromas of ripe red fruit stand out, with spicy and toasted notes of the ageing process. On the palate it is silky, lively and very lingering.
Juicy and enjoyable attack. Unctuous and velvety mid-palate leaving fine fruity sensations with a few toasted undertones. Good acidity and well-integrated tannins.

Good aromatic intensity, highlighted by ripe red fruit on an interesting toasted and spicy base. Appearance of fine notes of vanilla.

On the nose there are fruit aromas with a background of toasted wood and soft aromas of vanilla, coconut and spices.
Elegant red wine with a soft, pleasant, full-bodied mid palate and a well balanced acidity which provides it with a good freshness. It shows tasty tannins and a very enjoyable but not very long finish.  A very friendly and easy-drinking wine.
