Characteristics Atlantis Txakolí

Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Atlantis Txakolí is a white wine from the D.O Arabako-Txakolina produced by the winery Maetierra. This is a monovarietal from the grape Hondarrabi Zuri.

The climate of this region is Atlantic, annual temperatures average 13ºC and regular rain.

The vines grow on sloped lands, this therefore provides a good aeration and insulation to the plants.

The harvest of the grapes for Atlantis Txakolí is completed manually. Once at the winery, the grapes are destemmed and crushed.

Subsequently, the must is racked and Atlantis Txakolí is fermented at 13ºC.

After resting between 10º-12ºC, the wine is bottled.

Atlantis Txakolí is one of the wines from the Atlantis wine range offered by the group Vintae. The famous oenologist Raúl Acha is leading the project, in which he searches to find the best Atlantic wines from different appellations of origins.

Pictures and situation Maetierra
Álava, the region located in the south of the Basque Country, is known above all for its red wines produced in the vineyards within the DOCa Rioja. Truthfully, for centuries, nobody considered txakolí wine seriously, and very few mourned its disappearance. Compared to powerful wines with a higher alcohol content, txakolí was considered a ‘little’ local wine (‘vinillo’) of little interest. For a long time, a wine’s alcohol content was its only introduction. There were periods where still very poor production methods had not allowed the varieties to speak for themselves, and what’s more, txakolí forms part of a family economy at the same home-grown level as meat, milk and fish. In addition, the txacolí industry has not been advanced or prepared enough to rigorously produce this small oenological joy until the last few decades.
