AphrosWines Loureiro Branco is a single-variety Loureiro wine produced by the AphrosWines winery in the DOC Vinho Verde, in Portugal.
The grapes used to make the AphrosWines Loureiro Branco wine come from vineyards cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. They lie on hills facing the Lima river, on a slight slope, with exceptional soil conditions and excellent sun exposure, which is well balanced by the breeze coming from the Atlantic.
The grapes are macerated with their skins, pressed and decanted so that the must ferments with its own yeasts at a controlled temperature. The resulting wine ages on its lees in cement tanks for two months. It is bottled without filtering, clarifying or adding sulphites.
Vasco Croft, creator of AphrosWines, is a Lisbonite with metaphysical inclinations who has had various jobs: he trained as an architect and educator, he has worked in furniture design and has studied Steiner’s philosophy. One day he met a Buddhist monk and shared a bottle of wine with him.
A lover of mysticism, this event marked him for life. Today, he is a full convert to biodynamics and “Dionysism”. At AphrosWines, he works to make sure all his wines are made with complete respect and understanding of nature and the cosmos. These are wines that reflect an Atlantic personality and character in a sincere and authentic way.
