Andreas Tscheppe Green Dragonfly is a natural Sauvignon Blanc variety white wine produced by the winemaker Andreas Tscheppe in Südsteiermark (Lower Austria).
Andreas Tscheppe runs a small winery that was founded in 2006 in Gamlitz, a town in southern Austria, near the Slovenian border. Known for being one of the five Austrian biodynamic winemakers who, under the “Schmecke das Leb” label, makes wines with the same philosophy, with his white and orange wines being the most famous.
The Andreas Tscheppe Green Dragonfly vineyards are located in a very special place, surrounded by hills and arranged on terraces at 500 metres above sea level. Because the wine must reflect the complexity of the soils, they practice biodynamic agriculture at all times and the vineyards are full of life with insects, wild herbs and bare stones. The harvest is carried out carefully by hand.
Once the grapes reach the winery, they are destemmed, pressed and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in 500-litre used oak barrels. Andreas Tscheppe Green Dragonfly then spends 18 months in these same barrels and then a further two years in the bottle, without being clarified or filtered.
Andreas Tscheppe Green Dragonfly is a white wine that is born out of the connection between the winemaker and the terroir. Fresh and clean with a structured acidity, it is brilliantly stimulating.
