Andreas Tscheppe Blue Dragonfly is a natural Sauvignon Blanc variety white wine made by Andreas Tscheppe in Südsteiermark (Lower Austria).
Andreas Tscheppe, owner of Weingut Andreas Tscheppe, is known as one of the five biodynamic winemakers in Austria who produce wines using biodynamic techniques and treatments under the “Schmecke das Leb” label. Located in a small Austrian town next to the Slovenian border (Granz), the winery produces wines with native white varieties. Natural wines produced in a Georgian style with the main aim of revealing the full complexity of the terroir.
Andreas Tscheppe Blue Dragonfly comes from 10-year-old vines planted in limestone and opaque soil. From a biodynamic point of view, they try to balance nature taking into account the energies of the earth and the cosmos and using natural formulas. When the grape reaches its optimum ripeness, it is harvested by hand.
Once they reach the winery, the grapes are destemmed and pressed. The Andreas Tscheppe Blue Dragonfly must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in used barrels of up to 2,000 litres. The wine then ages in the same barrels for 18 months and is racked 2 to 3 times. Finally, a small amount of sulphur is added to preserve freshness. It is bottled without being refined or filtered.
Andreas Tscheppe Blue Dragonfly is a very fine natural and biodynamic white wine, it is elegant and full of energy.
