Alta Alella Tallarol is a white wine from D.O. Alella, produced by the winery Alta Alella in the municipality of Alella.

Alta Alella is a family project that was created more than twenty years ago by Josep Maria Pujol-Busquets and his wife, Cristina Guillen.

At present, Alta Alella controls 50 hectares under production in D.O. Alella and D.O. Cava. They have strongly vouched for the recovery of the native varieties Pansa Blanca (Xarello) and Mataró (Monastrell). They also experiment with resistant varieties that allow them to reduce the intervention in the vineyard and the winery.

Alta Alella Tallarol is part of a collection of wine of Celler de les Aus, a project, based on know-how and the experience that they have accumulated over the four decades they have dedicated to wine. This strengthens the Pujol-Busquets Guillén family’s approach to achieving quality, natural wines without using sulphur.

Alta Alella Tallarol is a natural white wine made with Pansa Blanca from vineyards planted on loamy-sandy soils at an altitude of 150 to 300 metres with southeast orientation.

Once the grapes have been manually harvested and taken to the winery, and after a slight pressing, the free-run juice is obtained. This juice will go through two different fermentations with native yeasts, one of them in amphorae made of ‘sauló’ (loamy-sandy soil) from their vineyards and the other, in cement egg-shaped clay-based containers. After the fermentations, the coupage is carried out and the wine is bottled without sulphites.

Alta Alella is the conclusion of a family project that was created almost 30 years ago by Josep María Pujol-Busquets and his wife, Cristina Guillén. They started this project when they bought the noucentista farm of Can Genís, located 2km away from the Mediterranean, between the municipalities of Alella and Tiana. This is the winery that is closest to Barcelona, and its organic wines can be found on the menus of some of the best restaurants in the world. Since the very beginning, it has been a modern winery. The respect for the environment and nature have been their base to produce pure and transparent wines and cavas.
The D.O Alella is located in the vicinity of Barcelona between the sea and the mountains. The wines from this region are the product of small scale vineyards, hidden from the curious eyes of visitors. The vineyards and winemakers have over the years have fought admirably for their survival against the expansion of large luxury urban areas. Luckily they have been successful in their fight, and most of the vineyards in the DO Alella are located under protected areas. The wines here represent a blend between tradition and modernity, the countryside and the city, the sea and the mountains, and the side harmony that combines northern serenity and Mediterranean passion.
