Characteristics Alberto Nanclares
Alberto Nanclares is a white wine made on lees with the Albariño variety in the D.O. Rías Baixas (Galicia) by Bodegas Nanclares Prieto.
When Alberto Nanclares decided to swap economics for the vineyard, he settled in the Galician town of Cambados and set up his own project using a philosophy of minimal intervention. In a short time Bodegas Nanclares Prieto became one of this region’s leading producers for quality and innovation.
Alberto Nanclares is a single-variety wine that comes from vineyards located in the Salnes valley and planted on granite soils. The vines are between 30 and 40 years old and are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and harvested manually in 15 kg boxes at the optimal moment of ripeness.
In the winery, the Alberto Nanclares grapes are pressed without being destemmed in a pneumatic low pressure press. It then ferments with native yeasts at a controlled temperature in 2,000-litre stainless steel tanks for 36 hours, and in used French oak barrels. Finally, it ages on its lees for 9 months with weekly batonnage until bottling.
Named after its maker, Alberto Nanclares is the father of this family of expressive, fresh and saline wines. A very powerful Albariño from Val do Salnes.
