Akilia K is a white wine from the D.O Bierzo produced by the Akilia winery. This wine is a blend of two different grape varieties: Palomino (around 74%) and Doña Blanca (25%).

The grapes used to produce this wine come from vineyards that are over 70 years old and occupy just love 0.2 hectares of land. They grow on the Valdesacia plot, which is owned by the winery and is situated on east facing slopes. The vines grow on sandy soils, which have a slate base.

After the harvest has been carried out, the grapes for Akilia K undergo the first phase of alcoholic fermentation which takes place in 1,000 litre capacity stainless steel tanks. The wine, which is produced in limited quantities, is aged for 5 months on its lees, followed by another 5 months in stainless steel tanks.

The Akilia winery is situated in el Bierzo. It was founded when Mario Rovira found at 600 metres above sea level, under a cold climate and situated on slopes, vines ideal for the cultivation of the Mencía grape variety. This fine white wine is proof of the winery's progress since its founding.

Pictures and situation Akilia
Bierzo wine is on the rise. It is a region defined by its small scale work, with plots scattered around, very old vines, artisan work of the small scale wineries, and the character of their principal variety, the Mencía grape, which produces fresh, fruity and delicious wines. Although the region is well known mostly for its red wines, it also produces white and rosé wines. If the red wines here are defined by the Mencía variety, then the white wines here are defined by the Godello. Godello grape has great aromatic potential, as well as an excellent balance between alcohol and acidity.  Despite the great potential of El Bierzo, its rise in the wine world would not have been possible without two people: Raúl Pérez and Ricardo Pérez. Two great winemakers who in little time have been able to produce critically acclaimed wines from the Bierzo region.
