Abel Mendoza Tempranillo Blanco is a white wine produced in D.O.Ca. Rioja by Abel Mendoza Monje in San Vicente de la Sonsierra.
Abel Mendoza began his journey in 1988, and he currently has 18 hectares that have been organically cultivated along the banks of the Ebro. The cultivation lands are rough and with a mixed composition, alternating clayey soils, marl and fine sandstones. Climate is moderately continental, marked by the Cantabrian influence.
Abel Mendoza is a wine grower that works his vines with dedication and turns them into personal wines. This is the result of different interpretations of the terroir.
Abel Mendoza Tempranillo Blanco is a wine made from Tempranillo Blanco from their own vineyards. This vineyard is part of a series of plots planted with traditional white grapes from La Rioja, which were recovered from 2000 and onwards. The vineyard is over 30 years old, and it is located on clayey, calcareous and sandy soils.
Harvesting is carried out manually, selecting the grapes in the vineyard. When they arrive at the winery, the must ferments in new 225-litre French oak barrels, where it rests for 5 months on its fine lees.
Abel Mendoza Tempranillo Blanco is a fluid, deep wine with body. Aromas of ripe white fruit on a very elegant smoked background. The production of this wine barely reaches 1000 bottles.
