About Torremilanos Montecastrillo

Torremilanos Montecastrillo is an organic red wine made with the Tempranillo variety (Tinta del país) produced by the Torremilanos winery in the D.O. Ribera de Duero.

The Peñalba López Torremilanos family acquired this traditional winemaking estate in the heart of the Ribera de Duero in 1975. From then on, they have used respectful cultivation methods and their wines are certified as organic wines.

Torremilanos Montecastrillo is a wine that comes from their own vineyards. Strains between 15 and 25 years old and planted at an altitude of 800-900 metres. A vines are trained using a trellis and pruning is carried out using the single cord and double cord Guyot method. The grapes are hand-picked and the first selection takes place in the field.

When the Torremilanos Montecastrillo grape reaches the winery, it macerates for 5 to 7 days. Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts in stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature. Finally, the wine is aged for 4 months in French oak barrels.

Torremilanos Montecastrillo is a young, organic, aged wine that shows off the full freshness and nobility of the Ribera de Duero.

Torremilanos Montecastrillo 2023 is a cherry-red wine with purple hues. On the nose, it is notable for its high intensity, where floral aromas, such as white flowers, can be discerned alongside notes of red fruit, like strawberries and cherries, with a subtle hint of liquorice and roasted nuances. On the palate, it is light and smooth, with a fruity profile complemented by mineral notes. Its passage is straightforward and noble, offering a seamless and pleasant experience.

As one brings it closer to the nostrils, it unfurls a spectrum of scents in which raspberries, blackberries, and a nuanced hint of cherries predominate, interwoven with glimmers of licorice and a whisper of white blossoms and thyme, all beneath a veil of gentle oak toastiness.
