About Tiberio Trebbiano d'Abruzzo

There are discoveries that can alter the course of one's life. In the late 1990s, Riccardo Tiberio stumbled upon an ancient vineyard of trebbiano d'Abruzzo, a nearly forgotten variety often mistaken for its Tuscan relative. This find, nestled among the hills of Cugnoli in Abruzzo (Italy), prompted him to abandon his city job and relocate his family to the heart of Abruzzo, convinced that this grape harboured a unique potential.

Today, his children Antonio and Cristiana continue that dream, meticulously and respectfully tending to every detail of the estate. Antonio, in the vineyard, focuses on sustainable practices, moderating yields so that the vineyard can express itself authentically. Cristiana, trained by some of the most influential names in European wine, oversees each vintage from the winery, believing that the best oenology is one that supports rather than intrudes.

In their vineyards, situated on clay-limestone soils at an altitude of approximately 350 metres and carefully selected from old vines, the trebbiano Abruzzo reveals its full distinctiveness. The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel, without malolactic fermentation, to preserve their natural freshness. Subsequently, the wine rests for several months on its fine lees, a gesture that imparts texture, complexity, and a silky character without compromising its purity.

Tiberio Trebbiano d'Abruzzo embodies precision and authenticity. Fresh, vibrant, and with a delicate minerality, it is a trebbiano d'Abruzzo that not only revives a nearly lost variety but also narrates the story of a family that dared to believe in it.
