Marqués de Vargas Reserva 2020 is an elegant, harmonious, and alluring red wine, which on the nose reveals freshness and ripe fruit, interspersed with delicate spicy notes and perfectly integrated oak. On the palate, it is expressive and juicy, with smooth, polished tannins that caress the palate, culminating in a long and fresh finish that leaves a lasting impression of balance and distinction.

About Marqués de Vargas Reserva

Marqués de Vargas Reserva is a red wine produced by the Marqués de Vargas winery in Rioja. The winery, founded in 1989, is located in the heart of the Ebro Valley, in Logroño (La Rioja).

Marqués de Vargas Reserva is made from Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo. The grapes come from old vines 30 years old on the Padrolagar farm.

The development of Marqués de Vargas Reserva begins with a harvest during the second week of September and a transfer to the winery in boxes of 15 kg.

Once in the winery, the wine fermentation takes about 12 days in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 29-30°C. After the fermentation process, the wine is macerated for 11 days with the skins and with pumping and daily beatings.

Finally, Marqués de Vargas Reserva spends 23 months aging in American, French and Russian oak barrels. And now, it is ready to be tasted.

2019

Marqués de Vargas Reserva 2019 unveils an alluring deep cherry red hue with a violet rim. On the nose, it reveals aromas of forest fruits, such as raspberries and strawberries, accompanied by subtle hints of liquorice that add complexity. On the palate, it is a well-balanced wine, with good acidity and silky tannins that impart a warm sensation. Its finish is long and persistent, leaving a pleasant impression that entices further enjoyment. A concentrated and delightful wine.

Marqués de Vargas Reserva 2018 unveils its distinctive character, delivering a bouquet where the scents of ripe red fruits such as cherries and plums are prominent, interwoven with a nuanced hint of spice. On the palate, its progression is gratifying and unveils a complexity that beguiles, exhibiting a medium to full-bodied structure and a depth that speaks to its sophistication. This red wine unfurls with grace, leaving a lasting and polished impression.
2015

Marqués de Vargas Reserva 2015 is an aged red wine exuding scents of stewed fruit, seamlessly integrated spicy undertones, and hints of toasted nuances. On the palate, it is vibrant, fruit-forward, and lingering. This wine boasts velvety tannins and a prolonged, sophisticated finish.

2009 Soft and fruity, medium bodied. Good acidity, marked tannins without being astringent.

Cherry red middle layer. Intense, clean and bright.

Medium to high intensity. Aromas of ripe red fruit, spicy notes (pepper, vanilla), herbaceous notes and cocoa. Touches of roasted and mineral flavours.
2007 Elegant, intense and very expressive wine with a wide attack and a long, soft and velvety, slightly warm and tasty mid palate. The subtly mellow aromas and the creamy hints are felt again, along with an excellent acidity which provides the wine with a good freshness. It shows silky integrated tannins and a long and persistent finish with pleasant toasted aromas.

Intense and bright, attractive cherry red colour with violet reflections. Thin and elegant tears.

Intense, complex, expressive and very pleasant aromas. Its shows abundant notes of spices, tobacco and leather mixed with good and elegant toasted aromas and hints of cocoa and coffee. The juicy notes of fleshy red fruit with a touch of liquor remain in the background and gain in intensity after some time. Some intense balsamic notes and a marked touch of liquorice round out this highly aromatic wine.
2005 Warm entry. Expressive wine. The return of toasted and spices. Long finish. Elegant.
