About Marqués de Murrieta Reserva

Marqués de Murrieta Reserva is an excellent red wine from D.O. Rioja made by Bodegas Marqués de Murrieta, a classic winery in Rioja that has more than 160 years experience in the world of viniculture.  
The 2009 vintage was rated by the Regulatory Board as "very good" in this Denomination of Origin.
It was the fourth consecutive year that they received this rating, and that made La Rioja remain in the market as a benchmark for the highest quality requirements.
This wine is a coupage of Tempranillo, Garnacha tinta, Mazuelo and Graciano varieties grown in Finca Ygay that can be found between 320 meters to 485 metres above sea level.
The climate of this estate is continental. Thanks to the location of the estate, close to Sierra de Cantabria, the temperatures are very mild and the mountain is a barrier for the cold winds from the north.
As for the production, after destemming and a gentle squeezing of the bunches, the grapes undergo a fermentation in stainless steel deposits. Afterwards, it is placed in vats for 8 days. Once the fermentation process has finished, the solid parts of the grape are pressed in vertical presses in order to obtain the best colour extraction and ripe tannins that reside in the skin.
Finally, Marqués de Murrieta Reserva rests for 16 months in American oak barrels and 24 months in the bottle. This wine is a mix of classicism and modernity.

The 2021 vintage marks a Marqués de Murrieta Reserva brimming with vitality, where red fruit pulses vigorously amidst aromas of scrubland, fresh mint leaf, and a delicate spicy undertone of cedar and clove. On the palate, it glides with elegance, supported by precise acidity and silky tannins that envelop notes of wild berries, raspberries, and a balsamic whisper. Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2020 reveals a captivating cherry red hue. On the nose, it is distinguished by its fragrant aromas, where notes of black fruit such as plum and blackberry emerge, accompanied by gentle floral hints and a subtle toasted undertone. On the palate, it appears harmonious and concentrated, with nuances of tobacco, pepper, and a hint of orange peel that contribute to its complexity. 2019

Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2019 unfolds with an olfactory palette where strawberry, cherry, and red plum take center stage, interwoven with strokes of black pepper and a spectrum of Mediterranean herbs. In the background, one can discern subtle hints of its sojourn in oak barrels. Upon tasting, it reveals its savory and vibrant character, distinguished by its elegance and silky tannins that impart structure without overshadowing its vivacity. This red wine is an exemplar of balance and measured concentration.
2017

Marqués de Murrieta Reserva Magnum 2017 is a richly concentrated red wine. On the nose, it is profound, with hints of leather, vanilla, and dark fruits. The palate reveals a labyrinthine and well-rounded profile, deliciously fruit-forward, with a velvety texture, sumptuous creamy oak, and ripe tannins. It culminates in an extensive and articulate finish.
2016

Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2016 Outlet is a richly concentrated red wine boasting a complex bouquet of red fruit scents, aromatic herbs, and toasted nuances. On the palate, it is smooth, delightful, and all-encompassing. This wine features silky tannins and seamlessly integrated acidity. The finish is extensive and harmonious.

Intense cherry colour.

On the nose there are ripe fruit aromas with sweet spices and toasted notes. This is a wine with a lot of character.
2008 Intense, deep and warm on the palate with great personality. Just like in the nose, there is a good balance between the ripe fruit and the wood. Fine, velvety tannins, good structure and a smooth, bitter acidity. Long, persistent and very enjoyable finish.

Pretty cherry colour, high robe, clean and bright. Elegant and fine tears show on the glass.

High intensity. Expressive and aromatic nose. Almost perfect balance between the red fruit, both ripe and crispy, and the aromas from its ageing in the barrel, elegant toasted notes, fine spices and light animal touches.

2005 This superior wine is ample, intense and elegant. It has a tasty, complex and powerful palate with marked aromas of fruit and spices. Well-integrated tannins. Long and persistent finish.

Intense and deep dark cherry red with touches of brick colour. Bright. Dense and slow legs.

Elegant aromas of very ripe fruit along with a wide range of flavours: spices, roasted, aromatic coffee, truffle and hints of underbrush.
2004 In the mouth it is meaty and flavorful. Marked with a potential fruit soft tannins, sweet and very well-assembled during their stay in cask. Final persistent, balanced and elegant.
