About L'Anglore Pierre Chaude

Facing change and starting again can be a challenge, because we tend to feel safe in our comfort zone. However, life is inherently changeable and sometimes presents us with situations where there is no choice but to adapt and start again. Eric Pfifferling, a beekeeper and winegrower in the commune of Tavel, a village in the south of France (Rhône), saw his beehives and grape production affected by violent storms in 2002, so he had no choice but to reinvent himself by making his own wines. Together with his wife Marie, and later with his two sons Thibaud and Joris, he produces natural, organic and limited production wines under the name L'Anglore. Wines full of fruitiness and purity that have turned the winery into one of the leading minimal intervention projects.

One of their best cuvées, L'Anglore Pierre Chaude, is a natural red wine made using the local varieties Grenache and Clairette from old vines planted on clay-limestone soil with sandy and pebbly structures, at the top of the AOC Tavel denomination, in the heart of a mineral cirque. The vines are 70 years old on average. In cultivation they use biodynamic practices and they have been certified organic since 2003. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested manually.  In the winery, vinification is carried out in whole clusters with spontaneous fermentation and maceration for 15 days. Finally, the wine is aged in used oak barrels for 10 months. It is not filtered or mechanically pumped during bottling.

By pampering the terroir, practicing biodynamics in the right measure and applying real sense, L'Anglore is known for its gourmet, juicy and surprisingly deep wines. A unique style that is beautifully reflected in this L'Anglore Pierre Chaude.

 

2020

L'Anglore Pierre Chaude 2020 is a smooth red wine characterised by an intense red colour and balsamic aromas of lavender, violet, aromatic herbs, pomegranate and raspberry on the nose. On the palate, it showcases harmony with compelling tannins, ripe fruit, freshness and subtle aromatic and spicy hints.
