About Jean-Marie Fourrier Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru

Knowing what one desires from an early age is uncommon. Yet, when it happens, it makes all the difference. Jean-Marie Fourrier was certain of his path at merely 23 years old. In 1994, he took the helm of the family Domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin, with the humility of one who inherits a legacy... and the determination to renew it. However, before returning home, he first expanded his viticultural knowledge under Henri Jayer, a living legend of Burgundian pinot noir, and with Véronique Drouhin in Oregon, where he absorbed a different perspective on wine and the vineyard.

This blend of heritage and fresh vision defines his style: wines of precision and clarity, where pinot noir speaks unadorned, solely with the voice of its terroir.

This is exemplified in Jean-Marie Fourrier Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru. A wine originating from one of the most coveted Grand Crus of Burgundy, on clay-limestone soils at 250 metres altitude. A pure pinot noir, cultivated with minimal intervention and vinified without added sulphur during fermentation. Fourrier controls temperature, allows the CO₂ to act, and relies on the lees to naturally protect the wine. Each plot is vinified separately. The ageing occurs in barrels, with less than 20% new oak, and bottling is done without fining or filtering: directly from barrel to bottle.

The result is Jean-Marie Fourrier Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru, a Grand Cru with delicate structure, serene depth, and restrained emotion. A wine that does not impose itself, but reveals itself.
