The elegance of its tannins leads to a complex and intense finish, where notes of wild strawberry and a surprising menthol linger. Behind a wine label lies much more than an attractive design; there is identity, memory, and a declaration of intent. The label serves as the initial dialogue between the wine and the observer, a subtle whisper that hints at what will unfold upon uncorking the bottle. In the case of Gianni Brunelli Brunello di Montalcino, this dialogue begins with a glance: "Elvira con sombrero."

The artwork adorning the label was created by Richard M. Goodwin, a Harvard economist and painter, a close friend of the family and a frequent visitor to the legendary Osteria Le Logge. This is not a random image; it is a tribute filled with affection for Elvira, Gianni's mother, a constant presence in the family osteria and the life of the project, as well as Laura, Gianni's inseparable companion. A label that seeks not to impress, but to narrate an authentic story, crafted slowly, just like the wine it adorns.

Gianni Brunelli Brunello di Montalcino, crafted from sangiovese, originates from two complementary vineyards: Podernovone, situated at 500 metres altitude with a southwest exposure, planted in 1998, and Canalicchio, at 250 metres with a northwest orientation, planted in 1989. The soils, composed of galestro, calcareous marl schist, and white clay, contribute complexity, tension, and elegance. The vinification process includes a 23-day maceration and fermentation, followed by a 30-month maturation in large oak barrels of 25 to 30 hectolitres.

The result is a demanding yet deeply alluring brunello. Delicate and vigorous, serious and emotional, Gianni Brunelli Brunello di Montalcino embodies the essence of Montalcino and foreshadows the style of great brunellos of the future.
