About De Moor Le Vendangeur Masqué Chablis

"Every cloud has a silver lining!" And indeed, this white wine De Moor Le Vendangeur Masqué Chablis is the result of adverse weather conditions in the vineyards of Alice and Olivier De Moor, a duo of winemakers who produce pure and natural wines in small plots in the village of Courgis, within the AOC Chablis in Burgundy (France). Having been affected in recent years by frost and hail, they have had to source grapes from neighboring friends who share their work philosophy. Hence the name of the wine, Le Vendangeur Masqué, which translates to “the masked harvester.”

However, the extraordinary aspect of De Moor Le Vendangeur Masqué Chablis is that, although the grapes are not the couple's own harvest, the wine astonishingly tastes as if it were a De Moor signature creation. It is made from chardonnay grapes organically and biodynamically grown on clay-limestone soils, where Alice and Olivier's renowned oenological skills are applied.

The grapes for De Moor Le Vendangeur Masqué Chablis are hand-harvested, destemmed, gently pressed, and spontaneously fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel vats. The wine then matures on its lees in used oak barrels over 12 months. Bottling is the only stage when a touch of sulfur is added to the wine, and it is done without clarification or filtration.

Like the rest of their wines, De Moor Le Vendangeur Masqué Chablis is a fruity, fresh, and mineral estate wine that unveils the purity and complexity of the Chablis terroirs. It's a magnificent work of art that is even reflected on the bottle's label, illustrated by the talented Olivier.
