About Baigorri de Garage

A garage wine is an artisanal wine, produced in very limited quantities, crafted by small-scale vintners in a garage or a very small space. This philosophy, which emerged in Bordeaux in the 1990s, is honoured by Bodegas Baigorri with its renowned red wine Baigorri de Garage, one of the most exclusive bottles you can find.
 
Precisely in the Samaniego region, within the DOCa Rioja, at an altitude of about 650 metres, lie the micro-plots where this red wine is born, cultivated using sustainable methods that are entirely respectful of the environment. The old vines, over 65 years old, thrive on clay-limestone and very poor stony soils. All work is done manually, including the harvest.
 
In the winery, Baigorri de Garage is destemmed, pressed, and milled, allowing it to rest before fermentation. This maceration, where the liquid remains in contact with the skins, lasts several days, enhancing colour, aroma, and flavour. After this period, Baigorri de Garage ferments in wooden vats and undergoes 22 months of ageing in French oak barrels.

On the nose, it stands out for its intensity, revealing layers of ripe fruit, compote, aromatic herbs, spices, and mineral hints. Baigorri de Garage 2017 is a very intense and special red wine. The nose is penetrating, with aromas of fresh fruit, compote, aromatic herbs, spices and minerals. The palate is very tasty and round, with great balance, dominated by notes of tobacco, smoke and liquorice. Long and persistent finish.
2016

Baigorri de Garage 2016 is a richly flavorful red. The bouquet reveals candied fruit, tobacco, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is spicy with ripe tannins. Delightfully savory and well-rounded. Excellent harmony between fruit and oak. The finish is extended and lingering.
2010 Delectable and harmoniously balanced, it exhibits refined tannins. It culminates in a prolonged and lingering finish, adorned with alluring fruity nuances.

The taste is a very flavoursome. Elegant tannins and memories of wood. Fruit with toasted oak.

The nose is a very elegant and complex. Prevalence of stewed fruit with herbs, bread, snuff, chocolate, liquorice, leather, dairy and smoked notes.
2007 Powerful and meaty attack. A dense and full bodied wine with intense tannins and a good acidity. Long and very persistent finish.

Nice and intense cherry red colour. Clean and bright wine.

High aromatic intensity. The notes provided during the ageing (toasted, roasted and spice aromas) stand out and give way to the notes of very ripe red and black fruit. Some smoky and balsamic touches are also noticed.
2006 Very bulky, intense and wide attack. A full-bodied, dense and velvety wine, in which the notes of wood gain in intensity. Tasty wine, with a well-balanced acidity. It has slightly drying but still nice tannins. Its very long and persistent finish leaves pleasant hints of wood. An enjoyable wine.

Dark and bright, intense maroon cherry colour with maroon edges. A wine with a medium-high robe and elegant tears.

Very intense and concentrated aromas. On first nose, good toasted and smoked aromas are noticed along with intense notes of spices. When it opens up, notes of very ripe fruit with a touch of liquor are mixed with great balsamic aromas and a touch of cocoa and liquorice.
