About Anne et Jean-François Ganevat Mon Rouge

According to Benjamin Franklin, the existence of wine is “proof that God loves us and wants to see us happy.” Praise the Lord! Pour yourself a glass of Anne et Jean-François Ganevat Mon Rouge!

Anne et Jean-François Ganevat Mon Rouge is one of those reds that are worth the effort. One of those wines that you don’t forget. Made by the Ganevat siblings, it is a benchmark that serves as an example for current generations of winegrowers. Jean-François and Anne now run this 400-year-old company where they continue to make history and set the bar high. Maybe it’s because it’s partly in their blood. However, innate talent is of no use if it is not honed, and Jean-François was able to do this for a decade at the Jean-Marc Morey domaine in Chassagne-Montrachet (Burgundy), where he was in charge of the whole production process. Finally, in 1998, Jean-François returned home to take over the family vineyards, starting a new chapter where he is doing better than ever. Converted first to organic, then to biodynamic, every hectare of the family estate is naturally cultivated. However, the Ganevats’ dreams and expectations are very high, and some of these plots fall short of everything they want to do. Their solution is to buy grapes from local growers who, like them, share the same production philosophy. Jean-Marc Morey en Chassagne-Montrachet is born from this collaboration.

All work, both in the vineyard and in the winery, is manual. The harvest gives way to an almost secret work in the cellar, where Jean-François prefers to work alone. Intervention is minimal, limited to simply letting the wine evolve at its own pace, and just making sure that everything goes well. After semi-carbonic maceration and fermentation, Jean-Marc Morey en Chassagne-Montrachet spends about two years aging in barrels that have been used for various wines. Finally the wine is bottled without filtering or clarifying.

Whether or not there is a God, what is clear is that Jean-Marc Morey Anne et Jean-François Ganevat Mon Rouge is a great wine. A true reflection of the Jura.
