About Viña Pomal Rosado

Success doesn't always come at the first attempt. It often takes several months, or even years, to gain full mastery over something. Nevertheless, as the saying goes, they hit the ground running. At Bodegas Bilbaínas, they couldn't have excelled more with Viña Pomal Rosado, the first wine of this kind produced at this winery. 
 
Garnacha and viura are the two grape varieties that make Viña Pomal Rosado an equally classic and innovative choice. These two traditional grapes, commonly used in the winemaking of the DOCa. Rioja, are crafted using the saignée method, a technique that involves allowing the juice from the grape clusters to drain without applying any pressure. This meticulous process, a hallmark of a quality wine, extracts the finest expression and utmost intensity from this rosé. A brief cold maceration and precise fermentation at a controlled temperature bring out the best in Viña Pomal Rosado. 
 
However, while the production method is crucial, nothing could be achieved without high-quality raw materials, such as the grapes grown in La Rioja Alta, on heterogeneous, low-fertility soils, under the influence of a cool climate with strong Atlantic influences.
