Hacienda Solano Finca Peña Lobera is a red wine produced by the Hacienda Solano winery in La Aguilera (Burgos), D.O. Ribera del Duero.
Hacienda Solano is the personal project of the Cubillo family. In 2001 the three siblings, Estrella, Nuria and Agustín decided to start making their own wines from the family vineyards which until then they had only worked in order to sell the grapes to the best wineries in the area. To do so, they have been joined from the beginning in technical management by the enologist Sophie Khün and since 2016 by Toni Sarrión from the Mustiguillo winery.
Hacienda Solanohas vineyards in the La Aguilera area; old vineyards, some over a hundred years old, located at altitude and worked ecologically though as yet uncertified. Perfect conditions for preparing wines that reflect all the character of the terroir and the variety with freshness and with a great bouquet power.
Hacienda Solano Finca Peña Lobera is a wine made with Tinto Fino grapes from a single vineyard located in Paraje de Peña Lobera. A vineyard that is over a hundred years old, located between pine forests, at an altitude, on sandy and limestone soils.
They are harvested by hand and placed in 12 kg boxes, with the grapes being selected in the vineyards. In the winery, they are destemmed without pressing. The fermentation takes place in a small stainless steel tank, where gentle treading is performed. This wine is aged for 18 months in used French oak barrels.
