About Goliardo Caiño

Goliardo Caiño is a red wine made in the Rías Baixas by the Forjas del Salnés winery.

The winery belongs to Rodrigo Mendez, grandson of one of the founders of Rias Baixas wine production: Francisco Mendez. The winery is a small and family-orientated, yet with excellent old vines. For some years now, this winery has had the support of the great renowned winemaker Raul Perez. Goliardo Caiño is a single-variety Caiño, a variety almost extinct, from very old vines planted near the sea, which gives a special saltiness to the wine. Fermentation occurs at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels of 225 litres, the wine is then aged for 14 months. Goliardo Caiño is a red wine from white lands. A red wine with a very dark character.

2011

Soft on the palate. Tasty, with great prominence of red fruit, mild spices and salt. Sweet tannins. Good structure, enveloping and persistent.



Ruby red. A dense tear.



A great intensity on the nose. Red fruits, currants, raspberries and wild strawberries. Balsamic herbs, vegetation, eucalyptus, toasted notes and saline memories.
2008 Good and wide attack. Nice mid palate dominated by the notes of red fruits and balsamic herbs. Good tannins. Long and persistent finish, with a subtle bitterness. Saline aftertaste. An elegant wine, different and with its own character. Very tasty.

Intense ruby â??â??red, with violet or even bluish reflections. Medium-high robe and thin tears.

Red wine from the Rias Baixas with a very intense aroma. Red fruits are dominant. The floral aromas and saline touches provide it with a particular character. When it opens up, the notes of red fruits become more powerful on a significant spicy background.
