Frontio Follaco 2024 is a red wine that captivates from the first glance: with the character of the Juan García grape, it unfurls notes of flint and a subtle smokiness that intertwine with red fruits and wild herbs, akin to a stroll through the vineyard's wilder side. On the palate, it is juicy, slightly fleshy, with fine tannins and a medium body, balancing freshness and depth with astonishing ease. Its gentle structure makes it very approachable, yet no less memorable: a small discovery that clearly demonstrates that sometimes great pleasures come in a discreet and compelling form.

About Frontio Follaco

Just as wine is deeply rooted in its place of origin, localisms are intrinsically tied to their native regions, reflecting the unique characteristics of their surroundings. These words, expressions, or linguistic turns specific to a region or locality capture the cultural, social, and linguistic essence of a community. Thus, they can vary significantly from one place to another, even within the same country. Embracing this philosophy of celebrating and showcasing local identity, Danish winemaker Thyge Benned Jensen, affectionately known as Chus, arrived in 2016 in Fermoselle, in the province of Zamora (Castilla y León), to embark on his winemaking project Frontio.

The result of this endeavour is embodied in his introductory wine, Frontio Follaco, whose localism (Follaco), with Latin roots, is the colloquial demonym for the people of Fermoselle. This name perfectly reflects his philosophy of minimal intervention and maximum expression in wine production. Integrated into the DO Arribes, it is a predominant blend of tempranillo, complemented by small proportions of native varieties such as juan garcía, rufete, and bruñal. The vineyards, planted in granitic soils, are cultivated organically, without chemical products that would alter their purity. The grapes, harvested manually, are fermented in the winery with whole clusters and native yeasts. Finally, the wine matures for 9 months in used oak barrels, without additions and with minimal sulfites, to preserve its authenticity.

The result is a wine that not only captures the essence of the land of Fermoselle but also tells a story of respect for nature and tradition. Frontio Follaco is a tribute to authenticity, where each sip invites you to discover the riches of its terroir and the passion of its maker. A wine that, like the finest localisms, is unique, full of character, and a true reflection of its origin.
