About Continuum

Continuum is a red wine coupage of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot varieties produced by the Continuum Estate winery in the AVA Napa Valley in California, USA.

The grapes used to make the Continuum wine come from the Sage Mountain vineyard located at the top of Pritchard Hill, which overlooks the Napa Valley and San Francisco Bay. The vines grow in soils of volcanic origin, which is one of the characteristics that gives the Continuum wine its complexity.

The grapes are selectively harvested by hand and sorted before and after destemming and then placed in French oak or concrete tanks for fermentation. There are three or four pump-overs per day and two or three rackings during the most active period of fermentation.

The resulting wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels. The wine ages for 21 months on its lees. Two-thirds age in new French oak barrels and another amount ages in a new oak barrel. A single concrete amphora is also used for aging.

Continuum is an expansive and vigorous red wine, with the mineral character provided by volcanic soils. Exquisitely balanced.


 

2016 Continuum 2016 is a red wine that offers aromas of flowers and citrus on the nose accompanied by the presence of cassis, black fruits and dry wild grass. There are also notes of cigar box and leather aromas. On the palate it is concentrated and exquisitely balanced with an earthy minerality. It should be decanted before drinking for a more complete experience.
