About Château Rouget

Château Rouget is a wood-aged red wine made by the winery of the same name using the Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties in the AOC Pomerol, in Bordeaux (France). 
 
Owned by the Labruyère family since 1992, under their watch the Château Rouget vineyards have had a new lease of life, now producing iconic wines in the Pomerol denomination. By the 19th century, this classification had already placed Rouget among the top five estates and thanks to the exceptional quality and potential of their terroir, they are able to produce delicate wines that are loved all around the world. 
 
Château Rouget comes from 17 hectares of vines lying on a gentle slope of the Pomerol plateau, planted on gravel and clay soils. These vines, with an average age of about 40 years old, are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually in 20 kg boxes.
 
Part of the Château Rouget harvest vinifies through an integrated winemaking process. This means that once the harvest has passed over the selection table, the grapes are placed directly in barrels by plot to undergo alcoholic fermentation. The wine then ages for 18 months in 225-litre French oak barrels. Finally, it is bottled following the lunar calendar. 
 
Château Rouget is a balanced, fresh and well-rounded Pomerol red wine that is excellent value for money. Perfect for those who love fruity and refined wines.

Château Rouget 2023 is an opulent and silky red wine, boasting impeccable balance. On the nose, it reveals notes of crushed flowers, spices, red and violet fruits, mint, and blood orange. On the palate, it is supremely expressive and concentrated, with its flavours evolving over time in the glass. Sensual and refined, each sip unveils a captivating complexity, making this wine a standout choice for wine enthusiasts.                      
2014
Made during a challenging year of heavy rain, Château Rouget 2014 is a concentrated red wine with complex aromas of black fruit, notes of dark chocolate and subtle touches of toast and mint. On the palate it is voluptuous, silky and tannic. It reveals a beautiful freshness on the palate towards the end with noble sweet tannins and a long and spicy finish.
