About Bosque de Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca

Bosque de Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca is a red wine made by the Bosque de Matasnos winery in the Ribera del Duero.

Bosque de Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca is a blend of Tempranillo with a small proportion of Merlot. The grapes come from vineyards of Bosque de Matasnos, a farm planted at 950 metres of altitude with old vines over 60 years old, on typical soils of the Ribera del Duero: sandy clay loam soils and poor in organic matter.

At almost 1000 metres above sea level, frosts are common in the region of Ribera del Duero. Although Bosque de Matasnos in the middle of a well-ventilated plateau and sheltered by a forest of oaks and pines, which provides great protection against frost.

The temperature difference between day and night in times of maturation can reach 20 ° C, helping to facilitate a correct ripening of the grapes.

The whole process, from the vineyard to the winery, is focused on producing a quality product. In the vineyard more than 50% of bunches are cut, reducing the amount of the crop but increasing the quality of the final product.

Bosque de Matasnos has small yields per hectare of not more than 3.500kg / hectare, well below the maximum 7.000kg allowed by the denomination. The grapes are manually harvested at optimum ripeness, and a first selection of clusters is carried out.

The grapes are transferred to the winery in small boxes of 10 kg, avoiding unwanted breaks in the clusters.

In the cellar, the grapes are cooled overnight in chambers at 6 °C, in order to preserve all characteristics.

The next day a second cluster selection is performed, rejecting those that are not in perfect health.

Grape fermentation occurs through a conveyor, avoiding the use of pumps which may produce undesirable breaks, at a low temperature.

Bosque de Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca goes through an aging for 12 months in new French and American oak.

The result is a red wine from the Ribera del Duero which is fresh, fruity and with a perfect integration of wood.

2016 Bosque de Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca 2016 is a robust, succulent, and multifaceted wine. This vintage exhibits an excellent harmony of ripeness and vivacity.
