Rolland Galarreta Rioja is a red wine from the D.O La Rioja produced by Rolland Galarreta. This is a single variety from the grape Tempranillo, the most famous grape variety of the region.
The grapes used by Rolland Galarreta Rioja originate from 540ha that are owned by Bodegas Labastida, found at an altitude between 450-750 meters above sea level.
The grapes undergo a machine selection process after the harvest. The stalks are separated from the grapes and then placed into the tanks.
Subsequently, the cap is submerged and the grapes are worked in predetermined conditions. After a long maceration process, the must for Rolland Galarreta Rioja receives pump overs to extract the desired polyphenols.
Rolland Galarreta Rioja is pressed by a pneumatic press vertically. A malolactic fermentation is carried out in new American oak barrels.
In the same barrels, Rolland Galarreta Rioja is aged for 10 months to refine itself and an additional 4 months in bottle.
Rolland Galarreta Rioja is a project set up by Michel Rolland, a French oenologist and consultant, and Javier Galarreta, a Spanish entrepreneur for Spanish wine. They produce three wines, one for each designation of origin: D.O. Rueda, D.O. La Rioja and D.O. Ribera del Duero.
