About Ratzenberger Caspar R Riesling

Ratzenberger Caspar R Riesling is a monovarietal Riesling white wine produced by Weingut Ratzenberger. It is classified as a VDP Mittelrhein.

Weingut Ratzenberger is a winery located in the beautiful Renaissance village of Bacharach, in the heart of the Mittelrhein. It owns about 23 hectares of Riesling vineyards that it cultivates seeking grapes that express the terroir they come in the best possible way.

The soils of the Ratzenberger Caspar R Riesling vineyards consist mainly of crumbling slate, and are found on slopes that are south-facing to promote ripening. The grapes are harvested by hand so that an initial selection of bunches can be made in the field, thus arriving in the winery as intact as possible.

Once in the cellar Ratzenberger Caspar R Riesling is fermented in stainless steel tanks with temperature control to extract and preserve the fresh and fruity aromas of the grape.

Ratzenberger Caspar R Riesling is a wine of great aromatic complexity and a beautiful palate that perfectly combines acidity, minerality and fruity flavours.

Ratzenberger Caspar R Riesling 2019 is an aromatic white wine. On the nose, it unveils citrus aromas, white blossoms, and mineral notes (slate). The palate is vibrant and fruit-forward, with an intense, well-balanced interplay between sweetness and a solid acidity. Flavours of citrus (lemon, lime) and saline minerals emerge. It concludes with a lengthy and sophisticated finish.
2016 Ratzenberger Caspar R Riesling 2016 is a wine with a very high intensity of aromas. On the nose there are memories of peach, citrus and exotic fruit. Whereas a medium-high acidity, a light body and a point of sweetness can be detected on the palate, making it ideal for combining with an infinity of dishes.
