About Noval LBV Port
Noval LBV Port is a port wine coupage made with the Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca varieties, by Quinta do Noval, in the Douro Valley, Portugal.
Quinta do Noval is a centuries-old Portuguese winery whose name is legendary within the port wine world. The winery is one of the main producers and exporters of Vinho do Porto and was the first to decide against aging their wines in Vila Nova de Gaia, where the most famous wineries in Porto are located. Quinta do Noval vinifies and ages its wines on its own estate, which is located on the left bank of the Pinhâo River, in the Douro Valley.
Noval LBV Port is a single vintage port that is made in quality years using grapes from old vines. Quinta do Noval still practices traditional grape treading for its great wines like this Noval LBV Port whose must ferments in presses and the resulting wine ages for about 5 years in wooden tanks of different sizes.
Port wines labelled Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) are fortified single vintage Ruby port style wines (young wines) that are selected for their high quality and are bottled after a longer aging period ranging from four to six years, which is longer than usual for a Ruby port.
