About La Vieille Ferme Blanc

As with any product on the market, when it comes to setting the price of a wine, there are various factors to take into account. The quality of the terroir, the age of the vines, how difficult the vineyard is to access and the aging time are all likely to have an effect. However, although many people judge the quality of a wine by its price, these two factors are not always as related as we think. The truth is that quality is not always reflected in the price and today, fortunately, there are carefully made and affordable wines for all budgets. And what better example than the wines from La Vieille Ferme! This winery is located in the southern Rhône Valley (France) and is owned by the leading Perrin winemaking family. They also own the prestigious Château de Beaucastel, Miravel and Domaine du Clos des Tourelles, and among all the worldwide successes they have had over their five generations, they have now created this range of lovely wines for all budgets. La Vieille Ferme Blanc, classified as an AOC Luberon is an example of this.

Made from the Garnacha Blanca, Ugni Blanc, Bourboulenc and Vermentino varieties, La Vieille Ferme Blanc comes from vines planted in red Mediterranean soils, calcareous detritus and ancient alluvium round stones. This sunny region overlooks the sea and the vines are cultivated using respectful agriculture, without systemic chemicals. The work is carried out manually and with ploughing. Once the grapes have reached optimum ripeness, they are harvested and taken to the winery, where they pass through a pneumatic press. The resulting must is fermented in temperature-controlled tanks and, when it has finished, the wine is kept with its lees in stainless steel tanks until bottling.

Produced by the prestigious Perrin family for more than 20 years now, every year La Vieille Ferme Blanc is a pleasant surprise. A good introduction to the high quality viticulture of the South of France that won’t break the bank.

2020

La Vieille Ferme Blanc 2020 is an aromatic white wine with intense citrus fragrances, notes of tropical fruit and floral hints. On the palate it is fresh, fruity and easy to drink. A wine with a good balance between acidity and volume. The finish is long with a mineral touch.
