About Espelt Sauló

Espelt Sauló Jove is a young red wine from Empordà prepared by Celler Espelt, a winery founded by Lluís and Quimeta Espelt in 2000. The winery is currently managed by the third generation of the family, Anna and daughter Damia, who is the granddaughter of Quimeta and Lluís.

The climate in this area is characterized by the Tramontana, a strong wind from the north that can exceed 120 km/h, which is very beneficial for the vineyard. Winters are mild and summers are hot but tempered by the marine influence. The average annual temperature is 14-16 ° C and rainfall is 600 litres per year. This wine is a blend of 50% Lledoner Negre (Grenache) and 50% Carignan from 25 hectares of vineyards owned by the winery. The vineyards are planted on sandy and chalky soils, poor in organic matter, perfect for producing quality wines. As for processing, after harvesting at the optimum ripeness, the grapes are macerated in contact with their skins. Subsequently, fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks with temperature control. The wine is clarified and stabilized before being bottled.

2017 Espelt Sauló 2017 is a juicy, fruity and fluid wine. A good vintage for this wine, expressing a good fruit load, aromas of ripe red and black fruit, spicy notes and slightly balsamic. On the palate it is direct, lively and quite lingering.

In the mouth, this wine is nice and cool. There are lively tannins and good acidity. Lingering finish with a clear role of red and black fruit.



Cherry colour with garnet reflections, middle layer. Very bright and clean.



The nose is intense and fruity, it is dominated by aromas of red and black fruits such as raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and blueberries. Aromas of spices and balsamic.
