About Valduero Dos Cotas Reserva

Valduero Dos Cotas Reserva is a single-varietal tinto fino (tempranillo), aged for an extended period, crafted by Bodegas Valduero in the DO Ribera de Duero.

Founded in the small Burgos village of Gumiel del Mercado by Gregorio García Álvarez in 1984, the family-run winery Valduero is one of the pioneers in Ribera de Duero. Today, under the guidance of his two daughters, Yolanda and Carolina, they cultivate 200 hectares of their own vineyards of the tempranillo variety to produce crianza, reserva, and gran reserva wines in their winery built into the mountainside. A genuine cave, over 30 metres deep, houses more than 4,000 oak barrels and a million bottles for export worldwide.

In the field, Valduero Dos Cotas Reserva is sourced from old vines over 50 years old, planted at an altitude of 830 metres in clay-limestone soils. Traditional farming is practised with a bush vine training system to naturally limit production to an average of 3,500 kg/ha. When the grapes reach their optimal ripeness, they are hand-harvested in 14 kg boxes.

In the winery, Valduero Dos Cotas Reserva ferments for 8 days in stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 23°C and 28°C with pump-overs and a maceration period of 10 days. It then ages for 30 months in oak barrels from three different origins and is finally stabilised in the bottle for 18 months before being released to the market.

Valduero Dos Cotas Reserva 2017 is a red wine that captivates with its aromas of dark fruits, complemented by nuances reminiscent of coffee, tobacco, and wood. On the palate, it is robust and full-bodied, with a fruity core, and serious, powerful tannins. A seductive and elegant red wine, with balsamic sensations and a long, lingering finish.
 
2016 Valduero Dos Cotas Reserva 2016 is a red wine that on the nose presents a bouquet of black fruit aromas complemented by nuances of coffee, exquisite woods, and subtle toasted hints. On the palate, it glides with precise acidity, a pleasing fullness, and an elegant intensity. A red wine characterized by its prominent yet highly refined tannins, robust and alluring.
2012 Valduero Reserva is a mature red wine with intense aromas of coffee, tobacco and wood. On the palate it is powerful, meaty and vigorous. It has a long and persistent aftertaste.
2009 This classic red wine is elegant and serious, tasty and fleshy, with a very good balance between the fruit and the wood. On the palate it is smooth and silky. Perfect acidity and powerful, ripe tannins. A long finish, leaving fruity and balsamic sensations.

An attractive cherry maroon colour, intense and high robe. Clean and bright with elegant tears on the glass.

Complex, intense, and very fine, with a high concentration of black fruit, very well integrated with notes from its ageing. A great range of spices open out, giving us notes of sweet spices, coffee, chocolate, tobacco, good cedar wood and nice toasted notes. A light balsamic background with a slightly floral touch.
2007 This classic wine has a serious and elegant style. It is tasty and meaty on the palate, with very well balanced notes of fruit and wood. It has a soft and silky mid palate, a perfect acidity and ripe but powerful tannins. Long finish that leaves fruity and balsamic sensations.
