About Sept Obeideh

There are numbers that define a destiny, and for Maher Harb, seven is no ordinary number. With a background in mathematics and an innate curiosity for life's enigmas, Maher has always been captivated by this number, his favourite; he would soon discover it was also his life path number, as well as his father's. This coincidence, seemingly a nod from fate, became the invisible thread guiding the story of Sept Winery (Sept means seven in French) and each wine born in its vineyards. Sept Obeideh thus emerges as a tribute to that familial bond and the passion for the land, where each bottle encapsulates tradition, memory, and symbolism.

Sept Winery was born from the desire to revitalise Maher's homeland, breathing life back into the forgotten vineyards of his village, Nehla, and establishing Lebanon's first biodynamic vineyard. After years of learning in France and contemplating life and a shared passion for wine, Maher returns to his roots with a clear objective: to honour the ancestral wisdom of his forebears while crafting genuine terroir wines, reflecting the unique environment of the northern Lebanese mountains. Every decision in the winery, from vine care to vinification, embodies respect for tradition and a commitment to excellence.

Sept Obeideh is an exceptional white wine crafted from the indigenous variety obeideh, sourced from vines over 60 years old located at altitudes of up to 1,150 metres on clay-limestone soils. This wine is crafted with 12 months of lees ageing in stainless steel tanks, adhering to an ecological approach and a natural process that allows the fruit's aromas and the minerality of the terroir to express themselves purely and elegantly. Its limited production, around 5,000 bottles, depending on the vintage, makes each specimen a small treasure of the Lebanese land.

In the glass, Sept Obeideh unveils its rich and balanced structure, perfect for pairing with goat cheese, fish dishes, raw fish, tartare, or hearty salads. Its subtle notes of fruit, flowers, and minerality invite one to savour a moment of discovery, where each sip connects past and present, tradition and creativity, transforming the experience of drinking it into a memorable moment that celebrates life and the legacy of Maher's ancestors.
