About Clos Pepín

In the mountains of Bierzo (León, Spain), there are places where time seems to progress at a different pace. There, amidst steep slopes and ancient vines that withstood years of neglect, Germán R. Blanco discovered a story worthy of retelling. Thus was born Clos Pepín, a red wine created within the Casa Aurora project as a tribute to his great-grandmother and as a means to revive those small plots that held the memory of a unique landscape.
 
From the Villa de Albares, in the León mountains, this wine emerges from old vineyards tended with patience and respect, where mencía and garnacha tintorera coexist with other traditional varieties of the region. The altitude, the poor and stony soils, and the mountain climate marked by contrasts ensure that each harvest is a dialogue between the land and those who cultivate it.
 
The result is a wine of minimal intervention, crafted in an artisanal manner to preserve the locale's identity. After fermentation, the resulting wine rests in various types of vessels, seeking balance and expression without artifice. Clos Pepín is a red that exhibits a serene personality, with ripe fruit, notes of the wild, and a profound texture that invites further exploration with each sip.
 
Clos Pepín is one of those wines that seems to hold a secret of the place from which it originates. A bottle to open without haste, around a shared table, allowing the conversation to flow as the León mountains gradually emerge in the glass.
