About Clos Lentiscus Croac Croac Rosado

The mastic tree (pistacia lentiscus in Latin) is a plant that barely reaches 5 metres in height and forms part of the Mediterranean maquis. A humble bush but with a long history in the Garraf massif (Barcelona), it has always served as a place for peasants to take refuge and pass stories from father to son. An oral tradition that Manel Avinyó wanted to pay homage to in Clos Lentiscus, a wine project where they draw on ancient heritage in the vineyard and in the winery. 

Clos Lentiscus Croac Croac Rosado comes from sandy and calcareous soils, at the foot of Montgròs. A rosé coupage of Ull de Llebre and Xarel·lo Rojo grown in the protected Garraf Natural Park (Penedès). Cultivated using organic and biodynamic principles, the two varieties are harvested and the grapes are taken to the winery, which works using gravity. The grapes are kept in direct contact with the skins and alcoholic fermentation takes place with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine is bottled without filtering, clarifying or adding sulphites.

Presented in an unusual 1-litre bottle, Clos Lentiscus Croac Croac Rosado is a natural rosé wine that, with its label featuring a funny frog with a guitar in hand, is a refreshing and delicious ode to the nature that surrounds this wonderful estate.

Clos Lentiscus Croac Croac Rosado 2019 is a fresh rosé wine in a 1-litre bottle with aromas of tropical fruit and hints of tangerine. On the palate it is lively, light and refreshing. A delicious ‘glou glou’ wine with a touch of funk that is perfect to keep going back to.
