About CVNE Real de Asúa

Real de Asúa is a red wine crafted from the Tempranillo grape variety, produced within the DOCa Rioja by CVNE.

The winery CVNE was established in 1879 by brothers Eusebio and Raimundo Real de Asúa in the station district of the town of Haro (Rioja Alta). It was among the first wineries to bottle in Rioja, and since then, five generations have sustained the enterprise. Presently, it encompasses four wineries: CVNE, Imperial, Viña Real, and Viñedos de Contino.

The grapes for the Real de Asúa red wine are sourced from a selection of CVNE's own vineyards in Rioja Alta. Traditional agriculture is practiced on 1.5 hectares of vineyards planted in clay-limestone soils under a continental climate. Vines with low yields are harvested and selected in the vineyard at their optimal ripeness.

In the winery, Real de Asúa undergoes alcoholic fermentation in small French oak vats and malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels. It is aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels.

Real de Asúa is a tribute to the founders of the winery, brothers Eusebio and Raimundo. A celebration of tradition where fruit and wood are harmoniously balanced.

2015 Real de Asúa 2015 is a complex red wine, with a good balance between acidity and ripeness. On the nose there are aromas of black fruit, floral notes and hints of liquorice. On the palate it has a very attractive fresh and retronasal finish where floral notes and black fruit reappear.
