About La Inglesa Solera Fina

Traditionally, particularly in Spain, the most classic biological vinification involves a material such as wood. However, there are other alternatives, such as concrete, where La Inglesa Solera Fina rests.

La Inglesa Solera Fina is a fino, produced in the D.O. Montilla-Moriles, crafted from the Pedro Ximenez variety that thrives in Moriles Alto. This location, in the northeast of Andalusia, is one of the most significant points in the region, with a rich tradition in wine production that endures to this day. Among the inheritors of this legacy is the Doblas Alcalá family, the current owners of this historic enterprise founded in the 19th century by Diego Estanislao de Alvear y Ponce de León. Nonetheless, the nickname La Inglesa originates from two women: Luisa Rebeca de Ward and Sabina Alvear y War, mother and daughter respectively, two women who courageously took charge of the business upon the death of the family patriarch.

Today, the winery La Inglesa continues to make a name for itself thanks to its wines and their production, of exceptional quality. In fact, during the extraction of the must, the pressures are very gentle, resulting in a clear and clean liquid of high quality, which is transferred directly to the concrete vats where it will ferment. After spending a couple of years in the concrete vats, La Inglesa Solera Fina is transferred to the wooden casks where it will mature for an additional 10 to 12 years.
