About Harlan Estate

Harlan Estate is a wood-aged red wine made by Harlan Estate with the Cabernet Sauvignon variety in AVA Napa Valley, California (USA).
 
The Harlan Estate winery was founded by Bill Harlan, the wealthy owner of a Napa Valley resort who bought 97 hectares in 1984, and used 16 of these hectares to make fine wines. They make hard-to-find limited production wines with engraved labels that are authentic works of art.
 
Harlan Estate comes from a 16 hectare vineyard, mostly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, a popular grape in the Napa Valley. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture with limited yields and the grapes are harvested manually at the optimum moment of ripeness. 
 
One of the most sought-after Californian productions on the market, Harlan Estate macerates and ferments with native yeasts at controlled temperatures and then ages in 225-litre wooden barrels for about 18 months. 
 
Described by Jancis Robinson as “one of the top ten wines of the 20th century” and awarded 100 Parker points 4 times, Harlan Estate is a hedonistic wine that has managed to achieve perfection. As the owner says, “this wine is made to give people an even happier and healthier life.”

Harlan Estate 2018 unfurls with a subtle and complex allure, featuring a spiced nuance and a robust yet approachable structure. Its bouquet conjures a stroll through an orchard of dark fruits, with highlights of succulent plums and luscious blueberries, interwoven with floral sparkles and an intriguing hint of black olives and exotic spices. On the palate, it is intense and harmonious, revealing layers of flavor that unfold gently, maintaining a perfect ballet between refreshing acidity, rich fruit concentration, and polished tannins. 2014 Harlan Estate 2014 is a concentrated red wine with subtle notes of cassis, black cherries and ripe blackberries with attractive layers of forest soil, dried herbs, purple flowers and hints of charcoal. On the palate it is corpulent, muscular and very fruity. A wine with robust tannins, wonderful freshness and an epic long finish. Only around 2,100 cases have been bottled.
2012 Harlan Estate 2012 is a concentrated red wine with rich blackberry and cassis fragrances, earthy and undergrowth notes and a delicious lavender floral touch. On the palate it is flavoursome, deep and opulent. A majestic wine with silky tannins, bright acidity and a long and persistent finish. This wine might even reach perfection after another 4-5 years of bottle aging.
