About Acústic Celler Auditori Blanc

To show the unreal and strange as something entirely normal. This is the main objective of Magic Realism, the 20th century artistic movement represented by names like Arturo Uslar Pietri and Gabriel García Márquez himself. To this list of literati and virtuosos we must add another artist, Albert Jané, who also creates fantasy with his wines. If we had to represent this movement with a wine, it would undoubtedly be Acústic Celler Auditori Blanc, a white wine that the winery says is born from “magical vines”, that are very, very old at almost 90 years old, and stoically hang on in the D.O. Montsant. Using these vines, Jané continues the family tradition started by his parents, Benjamín Sanchez and María Ubeda.

In the Wine Statute, issued in 1932 and where the first Denominations of Origin were recognised, the D.O. Montsant was only listed as a sub-region within the D.O. Tarragona. However, due to the unique and marked character of its wines, in 2001 this territory was granted its own Denomination of Origin. This is largely due to its clayey, stony sandy soils, with slate and boulders where the vineyards (most of them old) grow between 250 and 750 metres above sea level. The three oldest, Finca Valsellada, Finca La Serra and Finca Tros de Marmellans, are where Acústic Celler Auditori Blanc starts life, a white wine made from Grenache Blanc, Macabeo and Pansal (also known as Xarel·lo).

All these varieties are grown organically, respecting this organic heritage that Albert Jané is now the guardian of, where low yields and manual labour are key. Always with the utmost respect for the grape, all varieties are processed in his winery at La coma de El Hostal, on the outskirts of Marçà, where Albert has very modern and perfectly air-conditioned facilities, where he manages to work magic in his different rooms. To begin with, Acústic Celler Auditori Blanc is left to macerate for two days at 8°C to 10°C before fermenting in three different tanks: cement eggs, French oak vats (1,500 litres) and barrels (400 litres). The machinery used ensures the quality of the wine at all times, with pneumatic presses and peristaltic pumps (which imitate intestinal movement, avoiding oxidation as much as possible). Finally, Acústic Celler Auditori Blanc is aged for 10 months, where the lees will put the finishing touch to this fantastic story.

2021

Acústic Celler Auditori Blanc 2021 is a creamy white wine with an intense colour. The nose is mainly citrus, with hints of spice (fennel, thyme). The palate is oily and deep, very powerful and intense. Long and powerful finish.
