About Perelada Brut Reserva
“The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands”, the list compiled by the leading beverage publication Drinks International, annually acknowledges the most outstanding wineries. The ranking is based on the votes of experts, including sommeliers and Masters of Wine, who assess factors such as quality, consistency, brand strength, and sustainability efforts. Among the 50 most admired brands in 2024 is Perelada, the project located in Empordà (Catalonia) that focuses on producing high-quality wines and cavas on both a national and international level. Situated in a medieval castle and managed by the Suqué family, Perelada has successfully merged history and modernity, distinguishing itself not only for its oenological excellence but also for its ability to promote the identity and grandeur of the D.O. Empordà and D.O. Cava appellations.
One of the most internationally renowned sparkling wines from this iconic winery is Perelada Brut Reserva, a cava made from wine derived from the three typical varieties of this denomination: macabeo, xarel·lo, and parellada. It is produced organically and immediately taken to the winery to begin vinification following the traditional method. For this, the best grapes are selected, destemmed, and gently pressed. The resulting must ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, and then the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle, where it remains for 15 months before disgorging. Finally, the liqueur d'expédition is added to achieve the brut touch that defines its elegant, fresh, and versatile style.
