About Atamisque Malbec

Atamisque Malbec is a wood-aged red wine made with the Malbec variety by Tierras Atamisque, in the Uco Valley, in Mendoza (Argentina).

The Tierras Atamisque winery lies at the entrance of the Uco Valley and is known around the world. Since 2006 it has been owned by Frenchman John Du Monceau. Around the winery lies a 125 hectare estate that supplies fine grapes to make elegant wines with a lot of character and typicity.

Atamisque Malbec comes from a plot with 80-year-old vines. These are old vines planted at an altitude of over 1,000 metres above sea level. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture. The harvest is carried out manually in 18 kg boxes at the optimum point of ripeness.

In the winery, the Atamisque Malbec grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks with a strict temperature control of 25ºC to 28ºC. The wine is then aged for 12 months in new, 225-litre French oak barrels before being bottled.

Under the leadership of renowned winemaker Philippe Caraguel, Atamisque Malbec is a Bordeaux-style wine that reveals the great personality that this variety develops in the Uco Valley.

2018

Atamisque Malbec 2018 is a robust red wine. Olfactorily, it exudes a fruit-forward bouquet, interwoven with notes of violets and forest fruits (blackcurrant), underpinned by a subtle hint of oak. On the palate, it presents a smooth, fresh, and silky texture. Lusciously fruity. Full-bodied and well-structured.

2017

Atamisque Malbec 2017 is a concentrated red wine with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, smoky notes and hints of spice. On the palate it is fresh, intense and rich. A medium-bodied wine, with fine and somewhat tight tannins and a long and elegant finish.
