About Puro Rofe Blanco

Puro Rofe Blanco is a white wine made by Puro Rofe in the D.O. Lanzarote (Canary Islands) with the Listán Blanco, Vijariego Blanco and Malvasía native varieties.
 
Led by entrepreneur Rayco Fernandez and winemaker Carmelo Peña, Puro Rofe is an innovative project created with the intention of showing the world the great wine treasure behind the volcanic landscape in Lanzarote. To do this, they work with winegrowers who are committed to their roots and revive local varieties with minimal intervention. In just 4 years, this work has caught the attention of wine industry greats like Parker.
 
Puro Rofe Blanco is made from three varieties that are native to Lanzarote: Malvasía Volcánica, Vijariego Blanco (also known as “Diego”) and Listán Blanco. These are old vines planted in volcanic soil due to the volcanic eruption that happened in the 18th century and covered a large part of the island with a rain of ash called rofe. Respectful, artisan agriculture is practiced and each vine is planted in a hole up to three metres deep to protect it from erosion by winds from the Sahara.
 
In the winery, the Puro Rofe Blanco grapes are trodden in a traditional winepress before pressing. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with native yeasts and aging takes place over 8 months in stainless steel tanks. Finally, it is bottled unfiltered and unstabilised and stored in the cellar until it reaches optimum maturity.
 
Puro Rofe Blanco is a surprisingly fresh, light and crisp wine. A white wine made from native varieties and volcanic terroirs with an Atlantic acidity and a 100% volcanic identity.

Puro Rofe Blanco 2019 is an elegantly structured white wine, suffused with fragrant fruit aromas, mineral nuances, and smoky undertones. On the palate, it is zesty, spicy, and eminently quaffable. This wine boasts a vivacious acidity, a distinct Atlantic profile, and a saline finish.
