Domaine Serge Laloue Sancerre Blanc Cuvée Silex is a single-variety Sauvignon Blanc white wine produced by Domaine Serge Laloue in the A.O.C. Sancerre, in the Loire Valley, France.
The Domaine Serge Laloue Sancerre Blanc Cuvée Silex wine is made using only grapes from a single plot with silica with clay soils and vines aged around 40 years old. Silica vineyards are the most sought-after in Sancerre because they give wines minerality and character, which are highly valued qualities.
The harvest is carried out manually and the must is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The resulting wine ages for six months on its fine lees.
Domaine Serge Laloue is a family winery that was set up in 1930 and has 21 hectares spread across Sancerre. This land has the three characteristic terroirs of this wine region: terre blanche, caillotes and flint, all of which are cultivated using sustainable agriculture.
Of all the wines made by this winery, Domaine Serge Laloue Sancerre Blanc Cuvée Silex is the only one that comes from a specific plot. The other wines are made with vines from a mixture of the three terroirs.
Domaine Serge Laloue Sancerre Blanc Cuvée Silex is an elegant and mineral wine that undoubtedly best showcases the essence of Sancerre whites made by Domaine Serge Laloue.
