About Château Moulin Saint-Georges

The surname Vauthier is intimately connected with the terroirs of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux, France. Since the family's acquisition of their first estate in 1690, they have played a pivotal role in the viticulture of Saint-Émilion for generations and are renowned for owning significant vineyards in the area: Château Ausone, Château La Clotte, Château Haut-Simard, Château Simard, Château de Fonbel, and Château Moulin-Saint-Georges. The latter, Château Moulin Saint-Georges, is situated a mere 200 meters south of the town of Saint-Emilion. This 7-hectare vineyard is part of the prestigious AOC Saint-Émilion Grand Cru and is managed by the current heirs Pauline, Édouard, and Constance Vauthier. A family that, as with all their other estates, has proven their dedication to quality and excellence in the production of wines in Saint-Émilion.

Its eponymous wine, Château Moulin Saint-Georges, a blend of merlot and cabernet franc, comes from vines over 30 years old planted on clay-limestone soils. Vineyard practices are traditional and the grapes are harvested by hand. In the winery, only the finest grapes are selected and fermented with indigenous yeasts in thermoregulated stainless steel vats for a total of 4 to 5 weeks. The wine is then aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months.

With a limited production of about 25 barrels per year, Château Moulin Saint-Georges is a magnificent red wine that exemplifies the full potential borne of the exceptional terroirs of Saint-Émilion. Another marvel from the exclusive and exceptional Vauthier family.
