About Bott Cornas
It takes immense courage to embark on a project from scratch. With no inherited vineyards or family history to guide them, relying solely on their hands and passion. This is how Bott. Graeme from New Zealand and Julie from the Rhône Valley find their place in the northern Rhône Valley, where the granite slopes hold centuries-old secrets, revealed only to those daring enough to listen.
Their philosophy is clear: each plot is unique and deserves special care. The vines grow sustainably, respecting the local biodiversity, while modern techniques are blended with tradition to capture the essence of the land. Every action, from pruning to hand harvesting, seeks to reflect the authenticity of the place.
Bott Cornas is the embodiment of this approach in a single-varietal syrah. Part of the fermentation is conducted through carbonic maceration, while the maturation lasts approximately 12 months in oak barrels, extracting colour, tannins, and structure. Precise temperature control maintains aromatic purity, and extended maceration adds density and depth.
Bott Cornas is a testament to the respect for the land and the efforts of those who cultivate it. Within it, one can discern the granite, the fruit, and the harmony of a project born from the courage to start anew, now showcasing a fresh and surprising new Rhône.
