About Bohigas Brut Nature Reserva

Bohigas Brut Nature Reserva is a cava crafted by Caves Bohigas in Òdena (Barcelona), within the DO Cava appellation.

Caves Bohigas is a family-owned winery located on the Can Macià estate in the municipality of Òdena. This estate spans over 200 hectares, comprising forests, cereal fields, and vineyards (more than 35 hectares). The family also owns 54 hectares of vineyards situated in the Gelida area of Penedès, an excellent location for producing still wines and well-suited for red grape varieties.

The climate in the area is Mediterranean-continental, with significant temperature variations between day and night and very low rainfall. The soils are predominantly clay-limestone. Caves Bohigas cultivates its vines under the influence of the Anoia River, respecting the land and seeking the maximum expression of the grape varieties that have best adapted. This results in low yields and high acidity, ideal for producing high-quality base wines for cava.

Bohigas Brut Nature Reserva is a cava made from xarel·lo, macabeo, and parellada grapes, sourced from old vineyards approximately 50 years old on the Can Macià estate. Once harvested, the grapes are pressed at the winery, and the must undergoes an initial fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The ageing on the lees in the bottle lasts for a minimum of 24 months.
